Malacca 2017

Day 1 (Singapore to Malacca) Ole Sayang Restaurant > Hatten Hotel > A' Famosa Fort > Christ Church > Jonker Street > San Shu Gong > Alto Sky Lounge

It was an impromptu visit to Malacca on a long Good Friday weekend
And I had always wanted to visit my friends in Malacca
Booked a private van to fetch us from Singapore
Since we are travelling in a big group of 13 people
We opted for the most convenient hotel
We stayed at Hatten Hotel once again
We embarked on a four-hour road trip
I was glad to have an itinerary whipped up in a day
Looking back at my photo albums,
I realized that my last visit was back in 2013
I must exclaim, "I Cannot Believe What Four Years Can Do To A City!"
And I was right
There were new buildings located just right at the Jonker Street entrance
5-storey H&M building and Hard Rock Cafe
Mamee Jonker House is also at Jonker Walk
I wasn't tempted to enter the building either
The entrance fees for this museum is RM5
Besides that, Malacca River Cruise didn't catch my attention either
They have different pricing for both Malaysian and foreigners
Ranging from RM10 to RM15
More info here
We reached Malacca at about 2pm
We left Singapore at 7am lol
So we were hungry and made a reservation earlier with a restaurant nearby our hotel
Lunch at Ole Sayang Restaurant 198, Jalan Merdeka, Taman Melaka Raya, 75000 Melaka, Malaysia It was not bad but not fantastic either
We didn't manage to board the free shutter bus from Hatten Hotel
Therefore, we shall head to Jonker Street on foot
Without further ado
Got ourselves refreshed at the hotel
And head out to explore heritage area
A' Famosa Fort located close the Sultanate Palace Museum
at the bottom of the hill of St Paul's church
This place is beautiful and eerie at the same time
Captivating and enchanting with its rich history
Next is the Christ Church
Its striking red walls attract many visitors around the world
Also an Anglican church and it's free to pay a visit
Surrounding this red brick building you’ll find many special, brightly decorated rides
These trishaws will bring you around the popular areas of Malacca
Ask and settle a price with the trishaw rider before you hop in
Dutch Windmill, the opposite of Red Square
We went for a slow walk at Jonker Street
Shopping at San Shu Gong
A well known shop at the start of Jonker Street
Selling local products, from traditional goodies
Beh teh soh and tau sar piah to durian confectionery and mochi
Near the cashier, they also sell made-to-order chendol desserts
I am not a fan of Chendol so I just skipped it
You can also get their Iced White Coffee – thick, sweet and rich

San Shu Gong
Address: 33, Jalan Hang Jebat, Malacca
Opening Hours: Monday – Sunday 10:00 – 22:00
Slot in stunning view of Malacca’s skyline from a rooftop bar
We had awesome supper at Jonker Street
We had ostrich ramly burger
Before we go back to our room
I nudged him to accompany me to the rooftop bar
And look what we were greeted with
A panoramic view of the cityscape of Malacca so beautiful
We couldn’t resist grabbing a few shots for memories sake.
And they have liveband performing that night
I cared less cause they didn't sing contemporary songs
Overall , it was a pleasant and relaxing experience
And we head back to our room at 1am
Tired and dropped dead instantly

Alto Sky Lounge
Address: Hatten Hotel, Hatten Square, Jalan Merdeka, Bandar Hilir, Melaka 75000, Malaysia
Operating Hours:
4.00pm – 12.00am (Sunday to Thursday)
4.00pm – 1.00am (Eve of Public Holidays, Friday and Saturday)

Not to forget this > Bibik House Cendol
Too bad I don't eat Cendol therefore I cannot comment on this

Day 2 (Malacca) Huang Chang Chicken Rice Restaurant > Mango Float Royale Malacca > Nadeje > Malacca Straits Mosque > Portuguese Settlement > Restaurant Bokchik Dan Keluarga
So these are the view from my hotel room and also the infinite pool on the rooftop
My friends fetched me to this famous chicken rice ball shop out of the town
Here you go, a picture of what I ordered
A small portion of chicken with small serving of chicken rice balls
Also, their cendol was served in a plastic cup
Too bad I don't know how to appreciate this
The next food hunt was to try the Malacca New Mango Float
It was thirst quenching drink on a hot sunny day
I would return to buy this if I ever visit Malacca again
And it's actually located near a cemetery but who cares right?
Mango float
Me and my crazy bunch of friends
Nadeje Crepe Cake Shop (Jaya 99)
G-01, Bangunan Jaya 99, Block A, Jalan Tun Sri Lanang, 75100 Melaka
More info on other locations here
Of course this is something you must eat when you are in Malacca
Their famous crepes which is not bad
And that's when we bid goodbye and join the next group of friends
We attempted Sunset shoot @ Malacca Straits Mosque
But the sun wasn't helping at all so we only managed to get orange tinge in the sky
This was taken opposite the mosque and it seemed empty
Super creepy as well, I suggest those who wanted to film horror movies to come here and try
 Our trip with these people
Thanks to the organizers for planning this out
Next, we proceeded to the Portuguese Settlement
As usual, when you alight from the vehicle
The stall people usually stomped towards you like you owed them few thousand dollars
We were fortunate that we hired a driver and he shoo-ed them off
The driver sort of affiliated with this Restaurant 88 and we were directed to dine here
Without hesitation, we just comply as the kids were hungry as well
Actually it wasn't expensive and the food wasn't that fantastic either
After dinner, the kids can play fire crackers and pop pop nearby
Then my friend, Xeno actually fetched us to this place

Restaurant Bokchik Dan Keluarga
Kampung Ladang, 75050 Malacca, Malaysia

They are famous for their Roti John since 1985
Patrons love stopping by here for their all-time favourite Roti John Klasik
Do give it a try if you crave for good Roti John

Day 3 (Malacca to Singapore) Dragon Fortune Restaurant > A&W > Baba Charlie > Peking Restaurant Sutera Mall

Woke up quite early on the last day to try some dimsum
Recommended by Xeno and of course up to the standard
Pretty satisfied and it was way better than dimsum in Singapore
Next, we went ahead to try A&W in Malacca
Knowing that we wouldn't be able to enjoy the float in Singapore
We will definitely lay our hands on the Rootbeer Float
On our way back, we stopped by at Baba Charlie shop
They are specialize in selling kuih and some local products
Too bad I am not into kuih so no I didn't buy anything
 No photography allowed but shhhhh
For the sake of you guys I just took a few shots
To show you how good their business are
My biggest shoutout would be this > Nasi Lemak Ayam Rendang
This is a must buy if you visit this place
This is x1000 times better than Nasi Lemak in Singapore
After 3 hours journey and I was having bad flu along the way
Finally we reached Peking Restaurant at Sutera Mall for dinner
The menu
 Starter
 Suckling pig
 Wasabi prawn
Bamboo clams with Tang Hoon noodle
2 flavour kailan

It pretty sums out the trip to Malacca and catch us next time~
