Planning and Findings For Yilan County Itinerary for 3D2N (for references)

Day 1 
Taoyuan International Airport T1台灣桃園國際机场第一航厦   Taipei Main Station [45-55min] Yilan Station [1hr] – Check in Ming Su - Wufengchi Waterfalls Jiaosi 五峰旗風景區- TangWeiGou Park - Jiaosi Hot Springs - Dinner
** Jiaosi Hot Spring Plaza (shelter from rain)

Things to Do:
1. Redeem Digital Tour Buddy (consist of a hand set, sim card with talk time of NT200 and             phone charger). Remember to apply online 7 days before departure.
2. Apply for Youth Travel Card at the tourism passenger service centers or any of the NYC               Youth Hub nationwide to enjoy Youth Travel Special Discount.

At Taoyuan Internation Airport

proceed to the Express Airport Bus ticket counter, located on the southwest side in the Arrival Passenger Reception Area.  

buy ticket at NT125 each from Kuo Kuang Bus Counter to Taipei Station 台北车站.  

After about 45min bus ride, the bus stopped at outside Taipei Main Station 台北车站

From Taoyuan International Airport to Yilan
By Bus:
1.       From Taoyuan International Airport, take Kuo Kuang Express buses to Taipei Main         Station. Duration – 1hr 10mins. Fare: TWD 115
2.       Transfer to buses directly to Yilan. Duration – 1hr. Fare: TWD 120
By Bus & Train:
1.       From Taoyuan International Airport, take Kuo Kuang Express buses to Taipei Main         Station. Duration – 1hr 10mins. Fare: TWD 115
2.       Transfer to Taiwan Railways, directly to Yilan Train station. Duration – 1hr 30mins.           Fare: TWD 200 – 250

Yi Lan Places of Interest

1.    Toucheng to visit the Lanyang museum
2.    Wufengci waterfalls near Jiaoxi
3.    Turtle Island (Guishan Island), take the train to Toucheng. ( 8 minute ride from Jiaoxi to Toucheng)
4.    Lanyang Museum, Toucheng, The museum is accessible within walking distance northeast from Toucheng Station of the Taiwan Railway
5.    Loudong Night Market, take train from Jiaoxi to Luodong Night Market (2stops away, 18minutes, NT39 per way.
To Wufenchi Waterfall 五峰旗瀑布 (aka Five Mountains Flag) How to get there
By Bus -Board a shutter bus called 台灣好行 from a bus-stop right outside Jiao Xi train station. It will bring you to several tourist’s spots around Yi Lan, including wu feng qi waterfalls. Alight at the 5th stop and there you are! Bus will arrive every hourly. Do check the timetable from the bus-stop in advance.
Cost TWD150 from Jiao Xi train station. Just tell the uncle 五峰旗瀑布 and he will take you right to the foot of the trail.

Take the train to Jiao River (Jiaosi) Railway Station, then walk along Wufeng Rd. about 4 kilometers to Wufenchi Waterfalls (Wufenchi Scenic Area).
By Cab -Cost TWD150 from Jiao Xi train station. Just tell the uncle 五峰旗瀑布 and he will take you right to the foot of the trail.
Tang Wei Gou Park > Hot Spring
Located at the central Jiaosi
Opening hours: 10am- 2.40pm ; 4pm- 9.40pm
** look out for Jiaosi Chilli Pepper Shop + Ice cream, Cow Tongue Cookies, Famous Cake Shop.
How to get there
For the Hot Springs Park – from Jiaoxi station, go towards the main through road and take a left. Carry along it for about 5 minutes and there will be a brown sign indicating the park on your left.
For the private hot springs we visited, both are on Lane 1, Zhōngxiào Road, Jiaoxi Township. See google maps at the bottom of the post.
Rose garden hotspring for 2; NT250, unlimited time

Day 2 
Go to Toucheng Station – Lanyang Museum – Lunch – a glimpse of Gueishan Island (Turtle Island) – Luodong Station –**MeiHua Lake (Plum Blossom Lake) -  Luodong Night Market – Dinner
** National Center for Traditional Arts, Luodong (shelter from rain)
**    Beiguan Tidal Park

How to get to Lanyang Museum
Option 1: There is a bus station in front of the train station. A free bus from this point to the museum only make rounds every hour. Read the bus schedules at the waiting area
Option 2: Walk outside towards 7/11. Turn left until you reach street corner where there is a noodle house. From noodle house, turn left until you see the museum.
Opening hours : Thursday – Tuesday 9am – 5pm (close on Wednesday)
Ticketing price: NT100
How to get to MeiHua Lake (Plum Blossom Lake)
By public transportation:
Take the train or bus to Luodong Station, 30min taxi ride from there.
Information for boat taking:
Adults – 50 NTD
Children under 110 cm - 25 NTD / People are over 65 years old – 25 NTD / People with disabilities and the one keep company with – 25 NTD
Attractions:
Renshan Nursery – Jhongshan Agricultural Recreational Area – Meihua Lake – San Qin Gong Temple (Taoist)
How to get to Luodong Night Market
From LuoDong Train station, you can take a taxi ($6) or walk 10 -15 minutes to the night market.
Opening hours: 3pm-11pm (weekdays); 1am (weekends)   
** National Center for Traditional Arts, Luodong
TRA Luodong Station Capital Bus (bound for National Center for Traditional Arts) to National Center for Traditional Arts.
Opening hours:
Weekdays9:00 am 6:00 pm daily

Day 3 
Suao Cold Spring - Lunch – Train back to Taipei Main Station – Ximen Station – Check in Ming Su National Palace Museum 國立故宮博物院 - Shihlin Night Market 士林夜市]
How to get to Suao Cold Spring
1.       Take a train to Su’ ao Railway Station, walk to it. Train: TRA Yilan Line to Su-ao station is approximately 300m.
2.       From Yilan, take the bus bound for Nan Fang-ao or Su’ao and alight at Su’ao       Stop.
NATIONAL PALACE MUSEUM 国立故宮博物院

Shi Lin Night Market 士林夜市 
MRT: Take Danshui (Red) Line to Jian Tan Station 劍潭站, Exit 2, walk 5min
Location: Around Wenlin Road 文林路 and Dadong Road 大東路

Specialty foods and drinks includes: oyster omelets and mee sua 蚵仔煎和面线 smelly stinky tofu 臭豆腐, big chicken chop 大鸡排, lemon aiyu jelly 檸檬愛玉, fried buns 生煎包, peanut candy 花生糖, bubble tea 珍珠奶茶, snow flakes crushed ice 雪花冰 and etc.
